Sintopia is a darkly comedic strategy and management sim from Piraknights Games and Team17. As long time fans of legendary publishers Team17, it was a great honour to make an advert for their latest release. In the game, players take control of Hell Incorporated, building and managing an underworld bureaucracy where sinful souls are processed, punished, and reincarnated for profit.
What better way to advertise a game like this than with a hellish job interview, because we’ve all been there, right? Tommy took on the role of our demonic employer looking for the next administrator of Hell. We weaved aspects of gameplay in to a light-hearted script to give a flavour of what players have in store for them. The advert was used on social platforms as part of the global launch of the game.
THE SETUP
With some 80’s inspired office furniture and lots of lighting, we transformed a small red brick garage in to our very own corner office from hell.
We made a point of using props prominently found in the game, such as the red phone, CRT monitor, bell and pen on a chain. Things that screamed infuriating bureaucracy!
In the colour grade we went for a retro VHS horror inspired look designed to evoke the unsettling charm of 80s video nasties.
